This article’s objective is to attempt to analyze the public representation of Muslim–Coptic relations as published within the Al-Ahrām newspaper between the five-year period of 2005 and 2010 and during Mubarak’s last presidency. Per the article, the newspaper was widely considered as the mouthpiece of the Egyptian government on official matters. Furthermore, the article examines the coverage by the media in regard to the Coptic community and the ways which enabled sectarianism to be promoted and to be established in Egyptian society during the Mubarak era and before the revolution of the Arab Spring.
